This releases fixes two bugs with splits transations:
In certain cases, some old data was causing issues with accounts totals. In version 0.0.147 we changed how totals are calculated to fix other problems, but this exposed some inconsistency with older data.
Split transactions won’t be reflected in the “cleared” total if the parent isn’t cleared. Sometimes they would be even if the parent transaction wasn’t cleared.
If you see any of the above issues, in this version you need to run the “Repair split transactions” tool again to fix your data. All account balances should appear correct after running the tool. You can find this under the “Tools” menu, or in the case of the web app in the app menu in the top left.
We’ve also added more options when importing CSV files. It now supports the ability to read the amount from 2 separate inflow and outflow fields, seen here:
For QIF and CSV files, there is also the flip amount option which will treat negative numbers as inflows and positive as outflows.
We’ve also fixed some annoying bugs! Transfers in scheduled transactions now work, some issues with blank payees have been fixed, and other things. See the list below for the full list.
I’ll be doing a livestream tomorrow, Feb 21 at 12PM EST, for at least 1 hour. Last time I talked a lot about things I’ve done outside of the app itself, such as the new blog/docs site (which you are reading right now). This time I’ll be focusing on the app, demonstrating the new nYNAB import and bug fixes.
I’ll also be available to answer any questions. If you are wondering how to do something in Actual, please ask and I’ll be happy to show how to do it (if it’s possible).
If there are no more questions, I will livestream some development of the app. While I’ve been working on several new features, reports might be a fun one to livestream.
See the linked issues at the bottom for fixes in this release. There are a few other small things that didn’t have issues filed for them:
On first launch, Actual automatically creates a new file for you. You need to close this file to be able to import files. Close it with
cmd+o on macOS), or selecting “Manage files…” in the File menu.
